Same-day dental crowns.
As much as we enjoy seeing our patients, we understand you have a busy life. Modern techniques like the CEREC same-day crown system allow for faster, more efficient dental care — and we’re pleased to offer them at our Walnut Creek office.
A crown in a single visit
Other dental offices send your restoration work out to dental labs that require you to wait two weeks or more to get your finished crown. In the meantime, you’d wear a temporary crown, which must then be removed before the finished crown can be placed.
With CEREC, your crown is created right here in our office, exactly to your liking and specifications — in a single visit. And because the entire process is digital, no more messy and uncomfortable impressions.
Engineering meets dentistry
Not only is Dr. Maher certified in the use of the CEREC machine, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. As part of that degree, he studied composite materials and computer-aided design and manufacture (CAD/CAM) — the same technologies behind CEREC.
How it works
- 01
Consultation & digital imaging
Once you and Dr. Maher have determined a crown is the right choice, he uses a high-precision camera to take digital images of your teeth.
- 02
Custom design
The images are used by the computer to create a customized restoration. Together, you’ll make sure it perfectly matches the shape and shade of your natural teeth.
- 03
In-office milling
Once the design is approved, the crown is milled from a solid piece of porcelain in the same shade as your teeth.
- 04
Bonded the same day
The crown is bonded to your tooth, and you leave with teeth restored to normal functionality — no temporary, no second appointment.
Built to last
CEREC crowns are long-lasting. With good oral hygiene habits and proper dental care, you can expect your crowns to last for approximately 20 years. They’re a good way to save and strengthen an existing tooth without the need for invasive procedures like extractions and dental implants.
CEREC bridges, too
Using the same CEREC system, Dr. Maher can also fabricate custom-made bridges. Just like with crowns, your teeth are photographed and the images uploaded to the CEREC computer. Each section of the bridge is milled, and the completed bridge is then bonded to the supporting teeth.
Over 12 years of experience making same-day ceramic crowns in office (CEREC / e.max).
